I dealt with this question in the context of my bachelor thesis PosterGAN. The number of new use cases of artificial intelligence and neural networks is steadily increasing, and thus the design autonomy of an AI is moving into the realm of possibility.
I trained the StyleGAN2 ADA network with 12000 different posters to test whether it is possible to generate posters with AI. I successfully showed the results and the process at the Ohmschau exhibition.
The posters illustrate the creative and generative capabilities of artificial intelligence and show that generative neural networks can generate designs that differ from human-made designs but have their own aesthetic value. However, with the speed of technological developments in Artificial Intelligence, this is expected to change significantly in the coming years.
